Who provides music therapy?
Hudson Valley Hospice employs a board-certified Licensed Creative Arts Therapist with Master's level education and specialty training in Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapy. We are also an AMTA National Roster Internship site, with interns in each county who provide clinical services under the direction of our clinical staff.
How does Music Therapy offer support?
Research has shown that music therapy may significantly increase quality of life for hospice patients, families and caregivers. Music brings comfort and consolation, enhances physical and emotional well-being and may help to:
Music therapy is available to patients and their families, and may be requested through any Hudson Valley Hospice staff member, including the nurse, social worker, chaplain, home health aide, or volunteer, or by calling Hudson Valley Hospice directly.
Music therapy services may be provided in your home, in the hospital, or in nursing homes that are served by Hudson Valley Hospice. Sessions may be private, or include supportive care for family members and caregivers.

Pain Relief
When a patient reaches the end stages of an illness, hospice offers palliative care to help control pain and reduce anxiety. We improve quality of life and time spent with loved ones.

Emotional and Spiritual Support
Hospice provides emotional and spiritual support to patients and families, including grief and bereavement resources. You and your loved ones don’t have to face these challenges alone.

Medical Care Management
Hospice manages medical care, in-home visits from care providers, acquiring medical supplies, and end-of-life planning.

Respect for the Patient and Family Wishes
Every family is on a different journey, and we acknowledge and respect your decisions and plans. Our goal is to make this difficult time as easy as possible.

Quality Time
We improve quality of life by relieving patients and their loved ones of much of the stress that comes with providing end-of-life care. Families can focus on being together and sharing memories.
