PEDIATRIC CARE

No one wants to imagine that their child could be diagnosed with a life-threatening illness but when the unimaginable happens, Hudson Valley Hospice can help. Our specially trained pediatric care staff understand the unique challenges and needs faced by children and their families when confronted with serious illness.   Our goal is to ensure every child and family in our community has access to compassionate and quality care in their time of need.

Whether a patient is an infant or teenager we believe that every moment counts. In the past, families with seriously ill children were often forced to choose between curative treatments and hospice services. Concurrent Care for Children allows pediatric hospice care to be provided along with disease modifying therapies. Together, our specialized pediatric care teams collaborate with each child’s own physicians to develop a plan of care that will best meet the needs of the child and the entire family.

We believe that the most nurturing place to provide care for children is in the comfort of their own home, with as much care and support as possible, to enhance the quality of life, not only for the child, but for the family as well.

We also believe that no child should ever have to go without the vital care that is Hudson Valley Hospice. Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) and a number of private insurance companies offer concurrent care coverage for children. For children without coverage, Hudson Valley Hospice is able to offer financial assistance through its Foundation to cover the cost of hospice care. It is our hope that no family is ever forced to choose between curative treatment and hospice care.
