THERAPEUTIC SERVICES
HOW THERAPEUTIC SERVICES CAN HELP
-
- Physical Therapy supports safe and comfortable mobility, positioning and transfers, while providing recommendations on assistive equipment, education to patients and caregivers on safer ways to move and how to adapt to changes in strength and abilities.
- Occupational Therapy helps patients maintain independence in meaningful daily activities and can offer strategies for conserving energy, adapting routines, supporting personal care and creating a safer, more comfortable environment.
- Respiratory Therapy provides support for patients experiencing breathing difficulties, helping manage respiratory symptoms, providing education on oxygen and respiratory equipment and teaching techniques that can promote greater comfort and ease of breathing.
- Dietitians provide individualized nutritional guidance based on a patient’s needs, preferences and goals, with an emphasis on comfort and enjoyment rather than restrictive diets or nutritional goals that may no longer be appropriate.
- Speech-Language Pathologists can assist with communication and swallowing concerns, offering strategies and recommendations to help patients communicate more effectively and eat or drink as safely and comfortably as possible.

CARE THAT MEETS PATIENTS WHERE THEY ARE
At Hudson Valley Hospice, we meet each patient where they are and recognize that every patient’s experience is different. Therapeutic services are provided with the understanding that goals may change as a patient’s condition changes. Our team works closely with patients and their loved ones to determine what will provide the greatest comfort, dignity and quality of life.
