PEDIATRIC CARE

No parent ever wants to imagine their child facing a life-limiting illness. When the unimaginable happens, Hudson Valley Hospice is here to help. Our specially trained pediatric care team understands the unique emotional, physical, and practical challenges children and families experience during serious illness, and we are committed to ensuring every family in our community has access to compassionate, expert care when it is needed most.

Whether caring for an infant, child, or teenager, we believe every moment matters. Today, families no longer have to choose between curative treatment and hospice support. Through Concurrent Care for Children, pediatric hospice services can be provided alongside disease-modifying and curative therapies, allowing children to continue receiving specialized medical treatment, while also benefiting from the comfort, support and symptom management hospice provides.

Working closely with each child’s physicians and care team, our pediatric specialists develop an individualized plan of care designed to support the needs of the child while also caring for and guiding the entire family throughout the journey.

We believe that the most nurturing place to provide care for children is in the comfort of their own home, with as much care and support as possible, to enhance the quality of life, not only for the child, but for the family as well.

We also believe that no child should ever have to go without the vital care that is Hudson Valley Hospice. Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) and a number of private insurance companies offer concurrent care coverage for children. For children without coverage, Hudson Valley Hospice is able to offer financial assistance through its Foundation to cover the cost of hospice care. It is our hope that no family is ever forced to choose between curative treatment and hospice care.
