Compelled by our mission, we are guided by a vision that continues to build Hudson Valley Hospice's reputation as the premier provider of hospice and palliative care in both Dutchess and Ulster Counties. As such, we are taking this important step to add this much needed component to the constellation of healthcare services we provide to the community.

A GIFT TO OUR COMMUNITY

Today, there are over 640 patients on our service receiving various levels of hospice care and that number continues to grow each day. Currently, there are no inpatient hospice facilities in our area for patients who need specialized care and we are working to change that.  Our ambitious plans demonstrate an extraordinary vision to enhance the unique and essential health care services we provide for our community at a time when it matters most.

With the opening of the Hudson Valley Hospice House in July 2023, family, friends and loved ones will no longer have to travel out of the area to receive care or visit their loved ones.  Instead, the Hudson Valley Hospice House will offer patients and loved ones alike a home-like setting in a 16,000 square foot single story facility sitting on seven wooded acres on Route 9G in Hyde Park.

THE FACILITY

We have learned that when home is not an option, our community needs a place where patients who have life-limiting illnesses can find comfort and solace and their loved ones can take a break from the inevitable caregiver fatigue and the challenges of caring for loved ones. Our goal is to make this facility the ideal environment where patients in their final days can live a comfortable and pain-free existence. Some of the things the Hudson Valley Hospice House will offer include:

  • 14 private home-like patient suites with private baths, individual room temperature control and convertible chairs/sofas allowing loved ones to stay overnight.
  • All of the suites will be equipped to handle general inpatient (hospital) patients, including high-flow oxygen, enabling patients to be transferred directly from a hospital to our home-like setting.
  • Two suites can be converted for pediatric patient care, to meet the needs of young patients and their loved ones.
  • Spacious dining, sitting and gathering rooms where people can join together in large and small groups.
  • Common areas equipped with coffee stations, microwaves and refrigerators.
  • A meditative garden, offering a peaceful and tranquil environment for patients and their families.
WE ARE JUST MONTHS AWAY!

The Hudson Valley Hospice House will be the first freestanding hospice inpatient facility in Dutchess or Ulster County. It is our expectation is that each year, over 1000 patients and their family members will directly benefit from the amenities provided there, and we couldn’t be more excited to officially open our doors in just a few short months.

Since we broke ground back in late 2021, we have made significant progress and are on track to open in July. Please check back here to see where we are in this incredible journey!
