Hudson Valley Hospice and Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation Announce Lights Across the Hudson

(Poughkeepsie, NY) –Hudson Valley Hospice and Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation invite the community to join them for the first annual Lights Across the Hudson, a moving luminary event celebrating those we have lost.  Be a part of this spectacular tribute on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 7-9:30PM at the Walkway Over the Hudson, the evening will shine with meaning as thousands of glowing luminaries light the way across the Hudson River in a spectacular tribute to remembrance, healing and community.

Lisa Wilson, Executive Director of Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation shared that “This event has been a dream in the making.  We are delighted to be able to bring our beloved community together on the beautiful Walkway Over the Hudson for an evening of reflection, connection and celebration of life.  With the help of our generous supporters, we are so grateful to be able to provide this evening free of charge to all.  Come join us and be a part of this extraordinary evening.”  She went on to say that the evening will include:

• Luminaries – 2000 luminaries will light the Walkway Over the Hudson, each representing a life remembered.  Luminary bags are available for advance purchase online and will also be available the night of the event for an additional fee.  For more information, visit hvhospice.org/lights.
• Inspirational Readings – Hear beautiful tributes and readings that celebrate life and healing from a number of local spiritual leaders from various faiths, including Pastor Liz Estes from the Old Dutch Church in Kingston and Dr. Kyle Austin, Hudson Valley Hospice Chaplain

• Music – iHeart Media of the Hudson Valley will be on site to provide the soundtrack for the evening’s event, with live music provided by  Hudson Valley Voices in Harmony,  a 501c3 nonprofit organization that supports young singers who want to join others in creating beautiful music together, guided by the belief that music has the power to change lives, Mid-Hudson Chapter of the Threshold Choir, formed in Kingston, New York in January 2023, they honor the ancient tradition of singing at the bedsides for those who are at the thresholds of living and dying and are a part of the international Threshold Choir community and Mary Doherty, Licensed Music Therapist and Hudson Valley Dutchess County Team Lead, beloved by patients and families and local performer.
