Hudson Valley Hospice provides a full spectrum of compassionate care, which may include complementary therapies tailored to each patient’s needs. These therapies are considered in each patients individualized care plan and are used in conjunction with our traditional medical and therapeutic practices.
Music Therapy has been shown to enhance the quality of life for patients, families, and caregivers. Hudson Valley Hospice employs a board-certified Licensed Creative Arts Therapist with Master's level education and specialty training in Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapy. Therapy animals may provide comfort and enjoyment for patients in end-of-life care. Certified therapy dogs have been shown to improve overall mood, to help people better cope with health problems, and to decrease patient anxiety.
Essential oils, derived from plants, may improve the sense of physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing as well as provide relief from anxiety and depression.
Therapeutic Touch, Healing Touch, and Reiki therapies use simple no-touch and visualization techniques with the goal of improving the flow of life energy in a person. Practitioners detect and alleviate problems of energy flow on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. Beneficial effects may include relaxation and feelings of wellbeing.
When a patient reaches the end stages of an illness or disease, hospice offers palliative care to help control pain and reduce anxiety. We improve quality of life and time spent with loved ones.
Emotional and Spiritual Support
Hospice care provides emotional and spiritual support to patients and families, including grief and bereavement resources. You and your loved ones don’t have to face these challenges alone.
Medical Care Management
Hospice manages medical care, in-home visits from care providers, acquiring medical supplies, and end-of-life planning.
Respect for the Patient and Family Wishes
Hospice strives to provide the highest quality end-of-life care so that our patients may live with comfort and dignity. Every family is on a different journey, and we acknowledge and respect your decisions and plans. Our goal is to make this difficult time as easy as possible.
We improve quality of life by relieving patients and their loved ones of much of the stress that comes with providing end-of-life care. Families can focus on being together and sharing memories.
